sodiumthiosulfate is a colorless and transparent crystal. It is easily soluble in water, and reacts with strong acid to produce elemental sulfur and sulfur dioxide gas.

In the #textileindustry, it is used as a dechlorinating agent for cotton fabrics after bleaching, a sulfur dyeing agent for dyeing woolen fabrics, an anti-whitening agent for indigo dyes, a pulp dechlorinating agent, and as a detergent, disinfectant and discoloring agent in the pharmaceutical industry.
